Mission Statement

A partnership rooted in faith & dignity.

Mission Partners Guatemala was formed to support various ministry efforts in Guatemala. The effort grew from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, St. Ignatius of Loyola parish, and the parish of San Jose in Mixco — a former Comboni mission organized by Fr. Bill Jansen.

Through dialogue with Sister of Charity Sarah Mulligan, a group of individuals became committed to supporting poverty relief, healthcare, educational, and ministry efforts in Guatemala. Together, we partner with local organizations to walk alongside the communities they serve.

About Guatemala

A land of resilience and color.

Guatemala is the largest country in Central America with over 13 million people. Despite its beauty, the nation is challenged by poverty, malnutrition, and limited access to healthcare, education, water, credit, and employment. With an average wage of $400 a month, up to 90% of the population lives below the poverty level, and 65% of rural Guatemalans lack access to essential resources.

Peace accords signed in 1996 ended a 36-year civil war, but human rights issues and natural disasters — earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, flooding — continue to shape the lives of those we serve.
